Synology NAS Integration
Connect your Synology NAS to renamed.to for automated file organization on your private storage server. Process files locally while maintaining full control over your data.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Do I need to install anything on my Synology NAS?
- No, there is nothing to install on the NAS itself. The integration works by accessing the NAS over your local network, just like a regular computer.
- Do my files leave my local network?
- Yes, the file content is sent from your computer to our secure cloud API for processing. The file is then renamed directly on your NAS. We delete the file from our servers immediately after processing.
- Does the computer running the desktop app need to be powerful?
- No, the app is lightweight. It only needs a stable network connection to your NAS and the internet. A Raspberry Pi or a similar low-power device is often sufficient.
Before You Connect
- A Synology NAS running DiskStation Manager (DSM) 7.0 or newer
- renamed.to desktop app installed on a computer on the same network
- A user account on the NAS with read/write permissions to shared folders
How It Works
The renamed.to desktop app (Windows/Mac/Linux) runs on a computer on your local network
You mount your Synology shared folders as a network drive (SMB/CIFS)
The desktop app watches these folders for new files and sends them to the renamed.to API for processing and renaming
